Where Haute Horlogerie Becomes the Dial

The Audemars Piguet Millenary 4101 is not simply a watch—it is a mechanical masterpiece designed to be admired from the front. Introduced in 2011, this extraordinary timepiece redefines traditional watch architecture by placing the movement itself at center stage, transforming the dial into a living exhibition of horological art.

Crafted for collectors who value innovation, craftsmanship, and depth of design, the Millenary 4101 fulfills a long-held dream in watchmaking: a timepiece that is more movement than watch.

A Movement Designed to Be Seen

Unlike conventional skeletonized watches, the Millenary 4101 does not rely on pierced bridges or openworked components. Instead, Audemars Piguet engineered the in-house Calibre 4101 to present its most captivating elements—normally hidden on the caseback—directly on the dial side.

Positioned at 9 o’clock, the oversized variable-inertia balance wheel immediately draws the eye. Its eight inertia blocks, golden tone, and distinctive cross-through balance bridge create a striking focal point, while the escapement and lever remain visible to the trained eye.

This architecture blurs the line between interior and exterior, uniting functionality and design into a seamless whole.

Iconic Millenary Case & Dial Architecture

Encasing this mechanical spectacle is the Millenary’s unmistakable oval case, measuring 47mm, a sculptural form that sets the collection apart from all others. The contrast between the brushed case middle and polished bezel enhances the flowing geometry, while the sapphire crystal allows light to interact with the movement from every angle.

An offset sub-dial with Roman numerals provides hours and minutes, preserving classical elegance amid the contemporary mechanical display. Twelve bridges arranged across the dial side introduce rhythm and depth, finished with Côtes de Genève, circular graining, and snailing, underscoring Audemars Piguet’s uncompromising finishing standards.

Technical Excellence & Reliability

  • Beyond its visual impact, the Millenary 4101 delivers exceptional performance:
  • Calibre 4101 beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) for improved precision
  • Variable-inertia balance with eight white gold inertia weights

Breguet balance spring for enhanced chronometric stability

  • Cross-through balance bridge secured on both sides for superior shock resistance
  • 22-carat gold oscillating weight mounted on ceramic ball bearings for smooth, efficient winding

Hand-decorated and assembled in Le Brassus, the movement features bevelled bridges, diamond-polished jewel sinks, decorated wheels, and a beautifully finished oscillating weight engraved with the Audemars & Piguet family crests.
